Year 6 revision for SATs - Mayflower ...

This week is SATs Week for the children in Year 6. 
Monday: Grammar, punctuation and spelling test. 
Tuesday: Reading 
Wednesday: Maths Arithmetic and Reasoning paper 1
Thursday: Reasoning paper 2. 
There will be a special SATs breakfast available for the children in Year 6 that week.

15th May 2026 - David Attenborough Themed Day

Today all of the children from Nursery to Year 6 will take part in a day of special activities to  to celebrate David Attenborough’s 100th birthday! David Attenborough has inspired people to learn about natural history as well as caring for the planet. The children will have the opportunity to make their own natural history programmes, learning about animals and caring for our planet. 

20th May 2026 - Eid Assembly

Celebrating Eid Al Adha in Bangladesh 2026

The children in Year 3 to 5 will be performing their Eid Assembly to their parents on this day.  Parents in Year 3 to 5 are invited to the performance.  Tickets for these performances are available from the office free of charge.

30th May 2026

Some of our Year 5 children have been working closely with two artists from Oldham to create artwork  for an exhibition that will be displayed in Gallery Oldham.  The Year 5 artists have been leading this project based on the Oldham Wakes and have been used to encourage other schools to contribute to the piece of art.
The exhibition opens on the 30th May. It would be great if we could see as many parents as possible at the opening. 

Week beginning 1st June- Year 4 MTC

The children in Year 4 will be completing the Multiplication Check assessment during this week. 
Make sure you test your children on their times tables and encourage them to go on TT Rock Stars.

Week beginning 8th June - Year 1 and 2 Phonic Assessment

During this week, the children in Years 1 and 2 will complete their phonics check.  

Good luck to everyone and remember to sound out the words!

22nd June 2026 - Sports Week

European Week of Sport | Awareness Days

This week the children will be enjoying Sports Week with their class.  They will take part in a range of sporting activities over the week outside of their PE lessons.   
The children will also take part in their Sports Day this week – more details about times and days will follow!

24th June 2026 - Summer Fair

SUMMER FAIR - NEWLYN ART GALLERY ...

Come and enjoy our Burnley Brow annual Summer Fair.  Gates will open at 3:30pm until 4:45pm.  
Come and soak a teacher, buy delicious home-cooked food or even a cake or too!  Other stalls such as face painting, tombolas, hook-a-duck, lucky dip and our bouncy slide! 
We hope to see as many of you at the fair as possible!  Come and join the fun. 

29th June 2026 - Pro strike

ProStrike - Fundraising for Schools

 ProStrike will be joining us with their inflatable goal and we will be doing some fund raising for school!  

More details will follow about this fantastic opportunity. 

2nd July 2026 - Meet the Teacher

Your child will meet their new teacher on this day!  I wonder who it will be? This will be a fantastic opportunity for your child to get to their teacher and for them to get to know them.  

Year 6 will be going to their new Secondary Schools – we wish them a successful day. 

3rd July 2026 - No Pen and Screen Day

On this day the children will be having a day of learning without writing through, Oracy, ICT, Art and hands on investigation! 
The aim of the day is to develop the children’s oracy skills and learn important skills about voice projection, intonation and speaking in a group.  
I am sure they will enjoy their no pen and screen day.

14th July 2026 - 100% Attendance

The children who have achieved 100% attendance this year will be celebrated when they attend a special Pizza Party to celebrate their fantastic attendance.
 
Well done to all the children and their families!

15th July 2026 - Class Attendance Prize

Today the ice-cream van will be visiting the class who one the attendance prize this year! There will be one winner from EYFS and Key Stage 1 and one winner from Key Stage 2.  
The children will be able to choose an ice-cream or a ice-lolly to celebrate their fabulous attendance.
Who will be the winning classes?

Certificates will be awarded to children from each class for Effort, Achievement and Always on this day.
