Parent’s Computer Club runs every Monday from 9:00am – 10:45am. 

Learn basic computing skills such as word processing, how to change fonts, size and colours of text and how to draw and paint on the computer. 

If you would like to attend, speak to Mrs Rahman in the office she will put your name on the waiting list. 

Sewing Class

Jigsaw Housing will be providing basic sewing classes for parents. 

This course runs every Monday afternoon from 1:00pm – 3:15pm for 10 weeks.

ESOL

English – Graveley Primary School

ESOL classes run every Tuesday morning from 9:00am – 11:30am.  These classes are run by Lifelong learning. 

This class support adults to build their confidence when speaking in English and improve their well-being. Learn how to improve your communication skills for example when making appointments and helping your children with their learning.

Come to a parent’s workshop every Tuesday afternoon 2:30pm- 3:10pm.  There will be a different theme each week. Meet in the office on Tuesday afternoons by 2:25pm to attend. See below for those coming up this term. Just turn up to attend. 

23rd April 2024:  This workshop is for parents with children in Years 5 and 6. Supporting your child before and during SATs with Mr Jacques, Mr Garside and Mrs Rahman. 

24th April and 1st May 2024: Business Start Up training. Lean ways to save money, generate money and how to market your product.  Participants will be able to apply for a grant for up to £500. 

30th April 2024: This workshop is for parents with children in Year 3. Using SeeSaw at home. with Miss Hulme and Mrs Rahman. 

7th May 2024: This workshop is for those who have been invited only.  Learn how to toilet train your child with Mrs Sikandar and Mrs Rahman.

14th May 2024: Learn about My Happy Mind with Mrs Sikandar and Mrs Rahman.

21st May 2024: School Website with Mrs Bennion and Mrs Rahman. 

11th June 2024: Reading Strategies – support your child with their reading at home – this is suitable for parents with children from Nursery to Year 6 with Mrs Hilton and Mr Jacques. 

25th June 2024: Supporting home language development with Mrs Sikandar and Mrs Rahman.

2nd July 2024:  Promoting Good Behaviour with  Mrs Sikandar and Mrs Rahman.

9th July 2024: School Uniform with Mrs Sikandar, Mrs Bennion and Mrs Rahman. 

16th July 2024:  Online Safety with Miss Hulme and Mrs Rahman.

Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities

Strengthening Families | Self Help Inc. Coordinated Family and Community  Engagement

A 13 week programme to promote positive relationships with their children and positive behaviour strategies.  A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of this course. This course takes place every Wednesday morning 9am – 12pm.

Jigsaw Housing will be providing a Level 2 Food and Hygiene Certificate.  This will be a 2 week course. The dates of the course will be 24th January and 31st January. Parents who have previously completed this course were grateful for the opportunity and said it helped them with  their work. 

This part of the course will be followed by Cook and Eat sessions – where they will learn about healthy eating.  Parents attending this course will receive a free slow cooker. 

Year 2, Year 3,  4  and 5 Homework Class

Homework & Spelling Tasks | Blakedown Primary School

Year 2, Year 3, 4 and 5 Homework Class runs every Thursday morning from 9:00am – 10:00am.This course is run by Mrs Bennion and Mrs Rahman. Come and find out how you can support your child with their homework and improve their learning.Just turn up to attend.  

Basic English Class

English

This course runs every Thursday morning from 10:15am – 11:45am. 

Come and learn basic spoken English.  This class involves role play of different situations such as introducing themselves, making a DRs appointment, buying a bus ticket and buying items in shops.

Parent Coffee Mornings

Come to the parent’s coffee morning from 9:00am- 10:30am.  

19th April 2024 – Diabetes Awareness Session. This session is aimed at people who have diabetes, people at risk of getting it and  their families.  The session is led by someone who has Type 2 diabetes. They will talk about diagnosis, symptoms, food, exercise, medication and how to live with the condition. 

26th April 2024 – A workshop from Sahara which is an organisation that provides a supporting service for anyone affected by dementia.  They will be sharing information about what dementia is, how to recognise it and how to support those who have been affected.

10th May 2024 – ABL will be running a MOT health check throughout the session.  

17th May 2024 – The Fire Service will be attending to teach you how to prevent accidents in the home, organising escape routes and what to do if there is a fire in the home. 

14th June 2024 – ABL will be providing a session about services that are available help if you need any health information.
