Parent’s Computer Club runs every Monday from 9:00am – 10:45am. 

Learn basic computing skills such as word processing, how to change fonts, size and colours of text and how to draw and paint on the computer. 

If you would like to attend, speak to Mrs Rahman in the office she will put your name on the waiting list. 

Sewing and Employability

Jigsaw housing are providing two 10 week sewing course for parents. Parents can learn sewing skills culminating in making an outfit.  Parents may in the future be able to apply for jobs in the textile business.  There are two stages to this course.

 If you would like to attend the next round of Sewing and Employability, speak to Mrs Rahman in the office. 

Sleep Tight Course

This 5-week course starting on the 13th January, Mrs Sikandar and Mrs Rahman will teach you about the importance of developing good sleep routines with your child.

ESOL

English – Graveley Primary School

Family ESOL classes run every Tuesday morning from 9:00am – 11:30am and 12:00pm – 2:30pm. These classes are run by Lifelong learning. 

This class support adults to build their confidence when speaking in English and improve their well-being. Learn how to improve your communication skills for example when making appointments and helping your children with their learning. 

Workshops

Come to a parent’s workshop every Tuesday afternoon 2:30pm- 3:10pm unless otherwise stated.  There will be a different theme each week. Meet in the office on Tuesday afternoons by 2:25pm to attend. See below for those coming up this term. Just turn up to attend. 

9th December: Understanding Autism – by invitation only – a session led Mrs Sikandar and Mrs Hilton. 

10th December: ELSEC (Early Language Support for Every Child) Project – the first of 3 sessions led by POINT.  

 

Strengthening Families. Strengthening Communities

Strengthening Families Program Returns ...

This is a 12 week course lasting from 9am – 12am.  You must be able to commit to attending all of these sessions. This is an accredited course. 

During this course you will learn how to build good relationships within your family, developing positive behaviour strategies and how you strengthen the community that you live in.

Food and Hygiene - Level 2 and Cook and Eat

Jigsaw Housing  are providing a Food and Hygiene Level 2 course for 2 weeks on the 10th and 17th December from 1pm – 3:15pm.   Parents will learn about the benefits of nutritious and healthy diet and will learn how to cook meals that are balanced and healthy.

Cook and Eat will start on the 14th January for 3 consecutive weeks.

All 5 sessions must be attended.

Year 2, Year 3,  4  and 5 Homework Class

Homework & Spelling Tasks | Blakedown Primary School

Year 3, Year 4, 5 and 6 Homework Class runs every Thursday morning from 9:00am – 10:00am.This course is run by Mrs Bennion and Mrs Rahman. Come and find out how you can support your child with their homework and improve their learning. Just turn up to attend.  

Basic English Class

English – Graveley Primary School

This course runs every Thursday morning from 10:00am – 11:30am. 

Come and learn basic spoken English.  This class involves role play of different situations such as introducing themselves, making a DRs appointment, buying a bus ticket and buying items in shops.  

Speak to Mrs Rahman in the office if you would like to attend and she will add your to the waiting list. 

Eat Well and Physical Activity

7 Top Tips for Healthy Eating ...

Oldham ABL Health will be delivering sessions from 3pm – 4pm every Thursday.  It will be  a 12 week programme where parents and their children will learn about eating well, portion size, nutritional information and physical activity.  

Speak to Mrs Rahman in the office if you would like to attend. 

Certificate in First Aid - Level 3

Jigsaw Housing will be providing a two week course on Level 3 First Aid.  

This course will be run on the 11th and 18th December from 12:30pm – 3:15pm. 

Parent Coffee Mornings

5th December: ABL Health will be talking about how food and how your mood affects what you eat.  Learn about how small changes can boost your overall mood and well-being. 

12th December: ABL Health will be giving helpful advice on how to manage cholesterol and diabetes through your diet.
